Camagüey, Jan 14 - The Assessment Assembly of the Provincial Council of Performing Arts (CPAE, for its acronym in Spanish) for the year 2025 took place with a critical and in-depth analysis of the institution's work, achievements, challenges, and projections, in a context marked by material and economic limitations, but also by a sustained commitment to artistic creation and the cultural education of the people.
During the meeting, various deficiencies affecting the normal functioning of the area were discussed, including the complex construction situation of the Camagüey Ballet, as well as shortages of supplies, shoes, and costumes for classical dance students and dancers. To this are added the lack of essential raw materials for the creative work of the performing arts groups in the territory.
However, the assessment acknowledged the social and cultural impact of the Council, which managed to extend its artistic programming to schools, care centers, and communities, reaffirming the transformative role of art.

They also highlighted the organization of festivals, national gatherings, and the significant visit of the National Ballet of Cuba, events that strengthened Camagüey's cultural life.
Reinaldo Echemendía, director of the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet, insisted on the need to allocate spaces and budgets consistently with the work of the artists, and emphasized that issues related to artistic education should be addressed through consensus and collective dialogue.
Meanwhile, Armando Pérez Padrón, president of the Provincial Committee of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in Camagüey, reflected on the strategic value of culture and warned about the dangers of not preserving artistic spaces, even in times of crisis, when art becomes an essential spiritual support for society.

Freddys Núñez Estenoz, director of Teatro del Viento, pointed out that current protocols and budgets are obsolete as they do not account for the real costs of current artistic production.
He proposed the creation of a site dedicated to creation, rehearsal, and the presentation of performances, available to all groups in the territory, as a way to maintain a balance between artistic creation and connection with audiences.
The exchange also addressed the investment process that includes the installation of solar panels in art schools, an initiative that will contribute to the sustainability of cultural institutions.
Furthermore, the value of artists as the soul and essence of the people, bearers of identity and collective memory, was highlighted.
Osvaldo Betancourt, president of the Provincial Council of Performing Arts, explained that for the coming year, the work will focus, among other proposals, on the development of the National Theater Festival, as well as on the maintenance of the usual spaces dedicated to children, which are highly accepted and popular among Camagüey’s families.
