Tapia Fonseca led analysis of important issues in Florida

Florida, Camagüey, Jan 17.- Led by Vice Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, an extraordinary session of the Administration Council was held to evaluate the implementation of the Government Program to correct distortions and re-boost the economy based on the achievement of autonomy and local development.

During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the people and directors of various enterprises and agencies in the territory, key issues were addressed such as revenue generation, food production, attention to social programs, government management, and the fight against crime, among others aimed at achieving the comprehensive progress of the territory.

After hearing the views of those present regarding the results of the work in these and other areas, Tapia Fonseca called for promoting alternatives to increase the production of grains and other items to satisfy the food demand of Florida’s residents, and for achieving concrete results in export policy and foreign investment for the benefit of companies, the population, and the local economy.

The Vice Prime Minister also showed interest in the monitoring of social programs by institutions and government leadership, including care for pregnant women, elderly people living alone, and adolescents and youth who are not in school or employed, who require—as stated—greater follow-up in neighborhoods and communities.

The exchange resulted in approximately 15 agreements on actions to be implemented immediately, referring to the topics presented and others related to the fight against crime and illegalities, tax evasion, the granting of powers to business units to optimize their performance, the realization of local development projects and public policies, and the strengthening of the bond with the people and the resolution of their problems at the grassroots level.

At the conclusion of the extraordinary session of the Municipal Administration Council in Florida, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca called for a change in mindsets and for moving forward by taking advantage of the intelligence and potential of the territory, amidst the scenario of threats and the intensified blockade imposed by the current government of the United States against Cuba.
