Céspedes’ giant aims to produce over 10,000 tons of raw sugar

Florida, Camagüey, Jan. 21. - The Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Sugar Mill, formerly known as Reloj Camagüeyano, began operations a few hours ago with the goal of producing just over 10,000 tons of raw sugar.
However, the startup faced irregularities in one of the turbines, leading the mill to continue producing molasses for now.

Engineer Ibrahim Guzmán Gómez, head of Industrial Maintenance at the plant, reported that they are working hard to resolve the issues with the second turbine, which they hope to fix in order to begin sugar production.

The raw material needed to achieve this goal is concentrated in the areas of the Argentina Popular Council in Florida, the municipality of Vertientes, and the soils of the Céspedes’ region.

The Jesús Menéndez Larrondo and Gualberto Galván Cervantes Agricultural Production Cooperatives provide the largest volume of sugarcane for raw sugar production.

Under the direction of Engineer Daumel Leiva Cabrera, the committed workforce of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Sugar Mill, along with labor from Panamá in Vertientes and Florida, aims to break the chain of unmet targets that has affected the industry in recent years.

The goal is clear: to meet the target of over 10,000 tons of raw sugar needed to guarantee the delivery of the basic food basket for the people of Camagüey.

With this relaunch, the sugar mill seeks not only to revitalize sugar production but also to restore confidence in a sector that has been fundamental to the local economy.

The community in this western region of Camagüey watches this new chapter in the history of the Céspedes’ giant with hope, wishing for the successful production of the much-needed sugar with the productive efficiency that characterizes the Céspedes’ sugar workers.
