First shipment of 81 mg Aspirin arrives in Cuba from China

Havana, Jan. 21. - The first shipment of 81-milligram Aspirin, produced in the People's Republic of China, arrived in Cuba as part of the strategy to guarantee the population's access to essential medicines, reported the Biocubafarma business group from its Facebook profile.

The supply is intended to meet the demand of the Basic Drug List and is the result of an evaluation and technology transfer process carried out by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed, for its acronym in Spanish), from Medsol Laboratories to the plant of the Chinese company Hubei C&C in Wuhan.

The operation consolidates a bilateral cooperation model based on the productive infrastructure of Hubei C&C, a strategic partner of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC, for its acronym in Spanish), and on the use of profits generated by sales of PPG in China, the flagship product of the Cuban entity.

This mechanism seeks to ensure the sustainability and stability of the supply of an essential drug in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, noted specialists in the sector.

With the arrival of the first batches, unloading and distribution to the national network of hospital institutions and pharmacies began immediately.

It is expected that, starting from this collaboration, the demand for 81-milligram Aspirin needed by the Ministry of Public Health could be fully met by the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry in 2026.

Biocubafarma executives highlighted that this action reinforces the efforts of its companies to guarantee vital medicines through international alliances based on complementarity and sustainability. (ACN) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
