Havana, Jan 23.- The International Skating Federation (World Skate) announced on its website the holding of two major international events on American soil this year.
The released schedule is centered around the World Skate Games, which will take place in Asunción, Paraguay, from October 2 to 18.
This mega-event, featuring urban and speed modalities, returns to South America after its 2022 edition in Buenos Aires. It will be the fifth edition and will gather more than 10,000 athletes, officials, and support staff from over 100 countries.
It is expected to include 12 skating disciplines and one e-sport, and will crown 154 champions.
The event will take place at venues such as the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, the National Secretariat of Sports, the Port, and the Costanera of Asunción; furthermore, it will extend to the cities of San Bernardino and Altos.
Prior to this major festival, skateboarding will have its elite gathering when the city of São Paulo, Brazil, hosts the World Championship for the first time in its history.
The event is scheduled for March 1 to 8 at Cândido Portinari Park, where around 400 of the planet's best skaters will gather.
It will focus on the two Olympic disciplines: street and park. It will also include a competition dedicated to adapted skateboarding, highlighting the governing body's commitment to inclusion as a fundamental value of the sport.
World Skate confirmed that in the coming days it will reveal a broader and more detailed calendar of international competitions for the season. (Text and photo: JIT)
