
Camagüey, Jan 27.- Under the light of flames symbolizing the continuity of an ideal, Camagüey celebrated tonight the Torchlight March in honor of the 173rd anniversary of the birth of the National Apostle, José Martí.
At the Plaza de losTrabajadores, the people gathered to begin this edition of the march, dedicated to the centennial of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. The event reaffirmed the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution and his example for new generations.
A representation of students from the University of Camagüey "Ignacio AgramonteLoynaz" and the University of Medical Sciences led the procession in a youth bloc, demonstrating that the spirit of the Centennial Generation of 1953 remains alive.
Under the slogan "Centennial Anti-Imperialist Torch," participants also paid solemn tribute to the 32 fallen Cuban combatants in Venezuela on January 3.

Before starting the march, MónicaEnamorado Pi, president of the University Student Federation at the University of Medical Sciences, emphasized in her remarks the commitment of youth to make this march a genuine act of cultural and political resistance in the face of the current challenges confronting the nation.
The parade was led by Walter SimónNoris, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Camagüey; Jorge Enrique SutilSaravia, governor of the territory; and Yurisney Gill Monteagudo, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Young Communists League.
