Projections of the Federation of Cuban Women analyzed in Camagüey


Camagüey, Feb 5. – In Camagüey, the plenary session of the Secretariat of the Federation of Cuban Women was held, with the presence of AnielkaFernández del Monte, a member of the National Secretariat. The meeting analyzed the main shortcomings and challenges facing the organization in the new work calendar.

Susana del Carmen Ricardo Bortes was recognized for receiving a mention in the contest Presencia y vigencia de Vilma (Vilma's Presence and Legacy). Dr. Yudith Laura Ferreira, a science doctor and director of the Women's Studies Center, presented the political process El Fidel que vive enmí (The Fidel Who Lives in Me), which will be carried out during the centennial year of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen support for young women interested in voluntary military service, increase the incorporation of women who are not in the workforce or studies, and improve the quality of actions in the Houses for the Orientation of Women and the Family.

It highlighted the need to intensify preventive work regarding adolescent pregnancy, the fight against drugs, and the revitalization of the FMC in every community.

Among other topics of interest for the agramontinas (women of the Camagüey region) federation members are the implementation of government projections to correct distinctions and reinvigorate the economy and the fight against gender-based violence, as well as food production and the defense of the homeland.

The plenary acknowledged the active participation of the most outstanding municipalities and ratified the commitment to promote public policies in favor of women, consolidate educational work, and guarantee better functioning from the grassroots level, with complete leadership teams and greater integration.

Furthermore, the firm position against the blockade and external threats was reiterated, while a call was made to strengthen unity and the defense of social justice.
