Vertientes, Camagüey, Mar 9.- With the aim of linking science with the needs of agricultural development in the territory, the Municipal University Center (CUM, by its acronym in Spanish) of Vertientes has organized a scientific workshop for the Agro-Industrial Process Engineering major.
This event is part of a process involving three preparatory workshop sessions, which provides students with the opportunity to present the results of their research. These initiatives are aligned with the priorities of the local macroeconomic strategy and food production programs.
Thanks to the recent allocation of energy modules to the institution, students have the necessary technology to develop their final theses and other academic activities. The research is presented in two formats: theses and projects, totaling ten proposals, as confirmed by Milagro Rodríguez Rubio, program coordinator, and Sara de Posada Rodríguez, a professor at CUM, during their interview on Radio Vertientes.
In the thesis format, future professionals address innovative topics of great relevance to the agricultural sector. Among the notable focuses are the agroecological management of food, the sustainable development of rustic crops adapted to local conditions, and studies on the transition towards agroecological practices. Proposals for the production of biopesticides from agricultural waste and an analysis of the impact of food loss and waste, a vital issue for food security, are also being presented.
On the other hand, the five research projects in the project format focus on specific lines aimed at boosting municipal production programs, aligning with the local development strategy and the third objective of the Government Program.
The training of the presenters for this academic activity was made possible by the workshops held in the Research Methodology course, where the research lines were defined and the quality of the final presentations was ensured.
It is worth noting that the CUM also serves 133 students in the regular daytime course at the Ignacio Agramonte main campus. The center's director, Ángela Aurora RabíBaldaquín, emphasized the relevance of these results for the advancement of the agro-industrial sector in Vertientes and the strengthening of ties between the university and the community.
