New air route connects Madrid and Havana starting June 28


Havana, March 18.- The Spanish company Enjoy Travel Group (ETG) announced that starting June 28, a new air route will link Madrid and Havana.

During the presentation, held at the Habana Café of the Meliá Cohiba hotel, it was reported that operations will extend until September 7, carried out by a Plus Ultra A330-200 aircraft, with 288 seats - 24 of them in Business class.

The departure to Havana will be on Saturdays in the afternoon, which will allow travelers from other Spanish provinces, such as Asturias, Valencia, Galicia, Catalonia and Andalusia, to connect with the flight using high-speed trains. Thanks to the contracts signed by ETG and transport companies such as Renfe and Iryo, all coordination is expected to be guaranteed.

The director of Enjoy Travel Cuba, Jorge Luis Fando, recalled that the company already has 19 offices distributed throughout the world, in countries such as Spain, Mexico, Chile, the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean nation itself. For her part, Anay Gutiérrez, commercial vice president, recalled that since the beginning of their activities in 2002 they have accumulated vast experience and highly qualified personnel.

Gihana Galindo, commercial director of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, highlighted the relevance of Spanish travelers to the Greater Antilles. She pointed out that this year 100,000 visitors are expected from Spain, with about 18 weekly air frequencies from companies such as Plus Ultra, Cubana de Aviación and Iberia, among others. Today, Spain is in position 10 among the markets that send visitors to Cuba.
