Camagüey , reinforced surveillance , Covid-19

Breaking contagion, a duty of all

Maceo Street in the city of Camagüey seldom remains empty. Delimited by two popular squares, it is one of the main arteries of the province, due to commercial, gastronomic, tourist and cultural services.

Since this Monday, that segment is closed to the public, as it is one of the two special areas under reinforced surveillance, in addition to Avenida de la Libertad, a measure adopted by the Provincial Defense Council to contain the rise of Covid-19.

Only Doña Nely bakery keeps working, while selling products in other stores; as well as La Ragazza cafeteria.

Assistance to 17 isolated people and the sale of food and toiletry packs have also distinguished the first hours of this partial lockdown. The area remains silent, another sequel to a pandemic that marks the lives of the people of Camagüey. (Text and photos: Juan Mendoza Medina / Radio Cadena Agramonte)
