Cuba, Operation Tribute, internationalist martyrs

Operation Tribute: honoring our internationalist martyrs

Although each sunrise on December 7 is a time of greatness, altruism and internationalism, the hearts of families’ tremble as they remember their children and brothers who lost their lives in the heroic epic of Africa.

125 years after the fall in combat of Lieutenant Antonio Maceo Grajales and his assistant Panchito Gómez Toro, the people of Camagüey, led by the highest authorities of the province, also paid tribute to two greats in the history of Cuba.

In the square that immortalizes the name of the Bronze Titan, the people of Camaguey marched on pilgrimage to the city's General Cemetery to honor the internationalist combatants, whose remains returned to Cuba 32 years ago as part of Operation Tribute.
