Imperative for Cuba to overcome the blockade, says party leader (+Photos)

Hanoi, May 3rd. - Faced with the perverse strategy of the United States government, it is imperative for Cuba to impose itself on the harsh reality of the blockade, said Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party (PCC).

Opportunistically intensified in recent years, the prolonged financial and commercial economic siege is designed to generate shortages and suffering of all kinds for the Cuban people, with the manifest intention of inducing apathy, distrust, discontent and rejection of the Revolution and provoking a social explosion, he denounced.

The Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC also spoke at the opening session of the V Theoretical-Practical Seminar of the Communist Parties of Vietnam (PCV) and Cuba, which he classified as "proof of the maturity that the links between our two sister parties have reached".

In his words, Morales alluded to the significance of these meetings, which became an important mechanism for discussing with sincerity and attachment to the common challenge of the construction of socialism the experiences on the development models of each country.

He also highlighted the decisive role of the directives in the complex tasks for the construction of the new society, as well as the "coincidences in the thinking of our leaders and in the purposes and missions of our parties".

In welcoming the participants to the seminar, the deputy head of the PCV’s Foreign Relations Commission, Ngo Le Van, meant that in contemporary history few links are as special as those existing between Cuba and Vietnam.

Those ties, cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and fostered by generations of leaders, emerged and grew on the basis of the similarity between our peoples in the struggle against a common enemy and in the defense and construction of socialism, he emphasized.

Le Van expressed pride in the loyal and transparent solidarity and exemplary brotherhood between the two nations and affirmed that the exchange of visits will serve to further consolidate bilateral relations.

He recalled that the idea of holding these theoretical meetings arose in 2021 and from then on four meetings were held, all with good results, which makes them a mechanism for the exchange of experiences much appreciated, he said.

The V Theoretical-Practical Seminar of the PCV and the PCC will address some questions on the construction of socialism in both countries and will take place in the context of the presence here of a Cuban party delegation headed by the member of the Political Bureau by Roberto Morales.

The visit to Vietnam marks the end of a tour which began on 23 April and which included China and Laos, which is valued as an opportunity to promote political dialogue at the highest level and contribute to the development of economic relations, cooperation with these three nations.
