Camagüey, Jul 11.- The Guillén Days event will take place in Camagüey from July 13 to 16 with an extensive program that includes conferences, panels, exhibitions, book presentations, poetry recitals, artistic shows, talks and other activities.
The day is dedicated to the journalist Manuel Villabella, a close friend of the National Poet of Cuba and a scholar of his work; in addition to the 65th anniversary of the collection of poems La paloma de vuelo popular and the centenary of the magazine Lis.
Yoandra Santana Perdomo, president of the Nicolás Guillén Foundation in the province of Camagüey, explained at a press conference that, in addition to the host territory, there will be participation from Havana, Matanzas, Ciego de Ávila, Las Tunas and Santiago de Cuba.
The inauguration, on the night of next Thursday at the birthplace of the 1983 National Literature Award, will include the opening of the exhibition El Imaginario de Guillén, with a wide sample of posters and personal objects of the author of the collection of poems Motivos del son.
The first edition of Los días de Guillén is sponsored by the Foundation that bears his name and the Provincial Center for Books and Literature, together with the affiliate of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and other institutions that They will evoke the work and legacy of the distinguished man from Camagüey.
