Vice President of Cuba received a partisan leader from Vietnam


Havana, Aug 23.- The Vice President of Cuba, Salvador Valdés, received this Monday the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV) and president of its Propaganda and Education Commission, Nguyen Trong Nghia.

From the Palace of the Revolution, the also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) expressed to the Asian visitor that the ties between both nations are special, of true friendship and brotherhood, and of great fraternity.

He added that diplomatic ties are based on the actions of the historical leaders of the two countries, Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh, and today they continue at the highest political level.

Valdés commented to Nguyen Trong Nghia his satisfaction at receiving him on his first visit to the Caribbean nation, while conveying the greetings of the highest leadership of the country's Government, the island's Presidency detailed on its website.

Regarding the arrival in Cuba of the member of the PCV Secretariat, Valdés reflected that it is a very important visit to continue strengthening and deepening the relations between both Parties, Governments and peoples.

In the complex moments that the world is experiencing, the vice president stated, this permanent, sincere and real exchange is very important, based on the characteristics and complexities of each of the countries and their traditions.

For his part, Nguyen Trong Nghia valued his stay on the island as fruitful, since it included the tribute to Fidel Castro and the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí; in addition to exchanging with leaders of the PCC and representatives of the National Assembly of Popular Power.

Cuba and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in December 1960, the following year the first embassy of the Asian country was established in Havana, and in July 1962 the first Cuban diplomatic headquarters was installed in Hanoi.
