Moscow will host Russia-Latin America Parliamentary Conference


Moscow, Sep 29.- The first Russia-Latin America International Parliamentary Conference will be held in Moscow from September 29 to October 2, the State Duma (Lower House of the Russian parliament) reported today on its official website.

According to the president of the legislative entity, Viacheslav Volodin, more than 200 participants are expected to attend, including parliamentarians, public figures and diplomats from Latin American and Caribbean countries who will discuss current issues on the international parliamentary agenda with their Russian counterparts.

In this regard, he stressed that more than half of the Latin American countries decided to attend the conference. Likewise, he pointed out that “many bilateral meetings” will be held within the framework of the event, because several delegations will be led by parliamentary leaders.

The conference will include round tables dedicated to equal and mutually beneficial economic cooperation and the development of humanitarian ties between Russia and Latin America.

Participants in the event will discuss the role of parliamentary diplomacy in building a just multipolar world and in security issues.

The plenary session of the conference on the topic Russia and Latin America: Cooperation in a fair world for all will take place on October 2 in the State Duma.

Previously, Volodin noted that more and more countries are choosing the course of pursuing independent policies, adhering to a development model based on the defense of national interests and seeing Russia as a trusted partner with whom they can build relations of equality and respect. mutual.
