Rafael Guedes national tour: 45 years of music will arrive in Camagüey


Camagüey, October 2.- The national tour Rafael Guedes: 45 years of music, which is performed in all the provinces that have symphony orchestras, will arrive at the Avellaneda theater in the city of Camagüey next Friday, October 6.

According to the information provided to the press by the Provincial Directorate of Culture, the program includes the Concert of the Islands, for guitar and orchestra, by Rafael Guedes; as well as symphonic versions of masterpieces of Cuban popular music made by the aforementioned composer.

The concert guitarist Ariadna Cuéllar will perform as a soloist, who has three recorded albums, holds numerous awards as an instrumentalist in Cuba and abroad and has performed throughout the country and in Colombia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Mexico.

The note adds that the direction will be maestro Javier Millet, former deputy director of the Camagüey Symphony Orchestra, with several recognitions such as the Musical Excellence Award in 2015 awarded by the Association of Musicians of the Granma branch of the Union of Writers and Cuban artists.

Born in Cienfuegos in 1956, Rafael Guedes directed, for more than 30 years, the Mayohuacán Group, one of the most important Cuban trova and son groups, and is currently the leader of Camerata del Son, with outstanding work, in addition, as producer of thirty albums and winner of two grand prizes in the Adolfo Guzmán contest and the Cubadisco Honor Award in 2017, according to the program provided to the Camagüey media.
