Havana, June 20 - The city of Enghien-les-Bains, in the Paris Region, will host its traditional Caribbean Festival next week, an event that will feature Cuba and its music among the highlights, the cultural promoter Carmen Mayans emphasized today.
In a conversation with Prensa Latina, the events organizer specified that while the festival, commemorating its 22nd anniversary, has Brazil as its guest of honor, it dedicates several of its key moments to the largest of the Antilles, represented by artists renowned on the international stage.
The Center for the Arts (CDA, for its acronym in French) in Enghien-les-Bains, an institution with three decades of experience in building cultural bridges, will host the event scheduled for June 25 to 28.
One of the most anticipated proposals of the Caribbean Festival will arrive next Saturday on the floating stage of the lake in this picturesque town, where the Cuban band Havana D’Primera will offer a unique concert, led by the virtuous trumpeter and singer Alexander Abreu, who is winner of several awards including the Latin Grammy.
According to Mayans, thousands of people will attend the presentation, with the added value of enjoying a large dance space, animated by professional dancers Yalily Rodríguez and Iván Martínez.
We will have other highlights from Cuba such as a performance by pianist Malva Rodríguez and students from the island’s music schools, an evening dedicated to the conga, and dance classes, she added.
Of particular interest is the illustrated lecture Contradanza, Danzón, Mambo, and Cha-cha-cha… Between France and Cuba, by CDA President Dominique Roland, a great connoisseur on Cuban music.
Cuban son, will once again be the protagonist in Enghien-Les-Bains during the 2025 Caribbean Festival, a popular music and dance genre that is a candidate to belong to UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage of Humanity. (Text and photo: PL)
