Meeting between generations unites great Cuban musicians

Havana, June 10 – Cuban pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán is organizing a special concert today with other musicians from the jazz scene at the National Theater in Havana, as a way of connecting generations.

The evening, scheduled for late June, will be held at the Covarrubias Hall of that Havana Coliseum. López-Gavilán will be accompanied by the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory Jazz Band and icons of Cuban jazz, under the direction of maestro Jorge Sergio Ramírez.

The program will be entirely dedicated to original works by López-Gavilán, with arrangements by the composer himself, whose pieces are distinguished by preserving a powerful fusion of jazz, classical music, and Cuban rhythms, performed with great virtuosity.

Guest soloists will participate, including Ruy López-Nussa, percussion maestro and emblematic figure of jazz in Cuba; Orlando Valle Maraca, one of the most brilliant flutists in Cuban music, and saxophonist and jazz musician César López.

With a rich sound and a great interpretive dimension, these artists will accompany López-Gavilán in a concert that celebrates the dialogue between generations: young talent and artistic maturity. (Source: Prensa Latina)
