Buenos Aires, Oct 5.- The Cuban Vice Minister of Public Health, Reinol García, highlighted in Argentina his country's experiences in the sector and the progress achieved, despite the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
During a meeting with members of the Solidarity Movement, graduates on the island and residents of the Caribbean nation, García referred, in particular, to the mental health program of the largest of the Antilles, developed thanks to a universal and free care system .
In addition, he highlighted the importance of this and other areas to confront the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, whose consequences were aggravated in Cuba by the impact and intensification of the North American siege.
García and the director of Mental Health Carmen Beatriz Borrego will participate tomorrow and Friday in the V World Summit of that specialty at the Kirchner Cultural Center in this capital.
Held for the first time in a Latin American country, the event will be inaugurated by President Alberto Fernández and will bring together ministers, experts and members of patient groups and civil society.
In addition, the representative of the Pan American Health Organization, Jarbas Barbosa, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Robert Mardini, and the minister of the sector in this nation, Carla Vizzotti, will be present.
