Cuba, Palestine, Gaza Strip, bombings, Israeli occupation

Cuba maintains communication with its citizens residing in Palestine

Havana, Oct 15.- Cuban diplomatic authorities maintain permanent communication with citizens of the Caribbean island residing in Palestine and coordinate the necessary consular attention to their compatriots from their embassy in Egypt, an official source reported today.

According to the website of the Antillean Foreign Ministry in X, so far five families of Cuban origin remain in their areas of residence in the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip, besieged by bombings by the Israeli occupation forces.

One of these families is located in Gaza and the rest are in the West Bank, according to information from the CubaMinrex portal.

The Gaza Strip is under a total siege, without electricity, water and food, to which are added constant bombings by the Zionist army, as a disproportionate response to the rocket attacks and infiltration into Israel by militants of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas, for its acronym in English).

Since the beginning of the conflict on October 7, hostilities have escalated daily and tens of thousands of deaths and injuries have been recorded on both sides, with a much higher toll on the Palestinian side.

The Zionist government itself acknowledged the day before having launched more than four thousand tons of explosives against the Palestinian civilian population, to whom it gave an ultimatum to abandon their homes in the Gaza Strip and head towards the South, in the face of an imminent ground raid.

The Cuban government has expressed its deep concern about the escalation of violence between the parties and called on the international community, and especially the United Nations Security Council, to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

For the Caribbean country, the current confrontation is a consequence of decades of Israeli practices of illegal occupation and colonization, in flagrant violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. (Text and photo: PL)
