"Fidel is Cuba" celebration promises to honor the nation's history


Havana, August 2nd.- A new anniversary of the birth of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution is approaching, and the system of cultural institutions today promotes various initiatives to honor the date, including the "Fidel is Cuba" Celebration.

August 13th is an anniversary of great importance for Cubans and for all those who show respect and admiration for the life, work and thought of the Commander in Chief.

From the Balear Center, in this capital, the program of the celebration was announced, which will be held from August 7 to 23 and will also evoke the figure of the tireless revolutionary Vilma Espín (1930-2007) and the singer Rita Montaner (1900-1958).

Several personalities, organizations and institutions are joining this celebration, including the Mariana de Gonitch Singing Academy, under the direction of maestro Hugo Oslé; the Fidel Castro Ruz Center and the Cuban Exporting and Importing Company of Specialized Services, Articles and Technical Products (Tecnotex).

Also the Cimex Corporation, the National Hotel, the group of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma), Lenin Park and the Balear Center itself.

Cultural activities are planned in each of them, in addition to the fifth edition of the "Forever Vilma" Interpretation Contest, on August 21 and 22 at the Balear Center.

Meanwhile, the province of Mayabeque will host the central event on Saturday, August 23, for the 65th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC, for its acronym in Spanish).

The "Fidel is Cuba" Celebration, conceived by Hugo Oslé with the support of various institutions, is shaping up as another of the tributes that are dedicated to the Commander in Chief every year. (Text and photo: PL)
