Havana, Oct 20.- Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, congratulated the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the successful conduct of the dialogue that led to the signing of agreements and the partial and limited lifting of coercive measures applied by the United States Government.
Through his account on social network X (formerly Twitter), the Cuban Foreign Minister pointed out that such restrictive measures should never be applied and should be lifted completely, permanently and without conditions. These measures violate the principles of International Law and harm the well-being of our Venezuelan brothers, stated the head of diplomacy of the Largest Antilles.
“We congratulate the government of Venezuela for the successful conduct of the dialogue that led to the signing of agreements and the partial and limited lifting of coercive measures applied by the US government. These coercive measures should never have been applied and should be lifted completely, permanently and without conditions. “They violate the principles of International Law and harm the well-being of our Venezuelan brothers,” he wrote.
This October 18, the administration of US President Joseph Biden eased his country's sanctions on Venezuela for at least six months.
In a statement from the United States Department of the Treasury, the agency assured that it has issued General Licenses that authorize transactions that involve the Venezuelan oil and gas sector and the gold sector, as well as eliminate the prohibition on secondary trade.
The decision of the North American government responds to two agreements signed last Tuesday in Barbados by the Government of Venezuela and the opposition.
These are the agreements for the Promotion of Political Rights and Electoral Guarantees, and the Vital Rights of the Nation. The first establishes the processes for the presidential elections to be held in the second half of 2024.
Likewise, it seeks to guarantee international observation of the elections, the definition of an equitable electoral schedule, the promotion of audits for the process and the updating of the electoral registry, including Venezuelans residing abroad. (ACN) (Photo: Cubaminrex)
