Camagüey, Oct. 28.- More than eighty workers from the 26 de Julio Cement Factory in the municipality of Nuevitas elected the first direct delegate from Camagüey to the XII Congress of the Union of Young Communists. This is Maray Martínez Lago, a young commercial specialist in an institution that in a few months hopes to be one of the most modern and productive industries in the country.
Maray expressed to Granma the joy of being able to represent the young cement workers at the event in April next year and assured that he would bring the proposals of his colleagues and the young people of the territory to the youth conclave.
“It is an honor to attend the highest event of the organization and that my colleagues have selected me constitutes a greater responsibility, since not only the young activists voted, all the Factory workers participated in this process,” she added.
Born in Santiago de Cuba, this 20-year-old girl follows a family tradition of grandparents and parents who also worked on the 26 de Julio.
The Nuevitas Cement Factory was inaugurated by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on April 9, 1968 and is currently in an investment process that will increase its production capacity with exportable quality.
The province will elect three other direct delegates to the XII Congress of the UJC: in the Adelante newspaper and the Rafael María de Mendive primary school, both in the provincial capital, the UBPC El Entronque in the municipality of Sibanicú, centers characterized by a high youth prominence.
