Camaguey, May 8th. - The link with the different forms of economic management to achieve productive chains and the purchase of raw materials, constitutes a fundamental premise of work for the Beverage and Refreshment Company (Ember) in Camagüey, a collective Vanguardia Nacional, acknowledged among the 11 best of the Ministry of the Food Industry, in the Cuban nation.
Liuven Veloz González, director of the aforementioned entity, explained in an exclusive interview to the Cuban News Agency that at the end of 2024 the company had 202 million pesos for the concept of profits fulfilling the sales, which reached about one billion pesos in a complex economic context, and in this 2025 they work to achieve higher results.
From the shortage of raw materials we rethink the productive strategy, because drinks such as soft drinks, vinegars and wines suffered the impact of the lack of sugars and alcohols, and the search for these resources had to be diversified elsewhere, but we fulfilled the production plan of all the assortments, except the vinegar, thanks to the effort and commitment of the workers, said Veloz González.
In this link to the forms of non-state economic management, he said, we managed to acquire new equipment for the industry, such as two generators, and a bottling line that increases productivity and reduces working hours.
We have several ventures linked to us, one of them with the Base Business Unit (UEB) Factory of Ron and Wines Port Príncipe, which is also premised on the use of renewable energy sources with the aim of securing the electric matrix, said the director of the Ember.
He stressed that alternatives are implemented in transport with the workers themselves that guarantee this activity, as well as the introduction of sweeteners in some assortments, as they are substances of high sweetening capacity.
Another relevant aspect shown by this entity is the Certification of Food Safety Systems, based on critical control points in the UEB Ron Puerto Príncipe by the National Office for Standardization, the highest rating granted by this centre on quality-related issues.
This served as the basis for trying to implement the Integrated Quality Management System, a more satisfactory result based on safety and the quality of its productions.
In the UEB Florida Soda factory, wine productions from tropical fruits stabilized as a variant, and it has increasing demand from customers, although they work to achieve higher quality standards and position themselves in new markets.
The manager noted that they add up strategies focused on attracting foreign exchange on online platforms and have contracts and sales management in three virtual stores that are reinforced as customers know the products.
For this calendar they aspire to maintain the payment by Decree Law 87, which during 2024 remained on average above five thousand 500 Cuban pesos (CUP), and adding the distribution of profits exceeded 10 thousand CUP for each worker.
