Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister denounces double standards in justice policy

The Hague, Nov 9.- The Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Yván Gil, denounced the policy of double standards that is systematically applied in the world and demanded it must stop.

At the end of the second day of appeal before the International Criminal Court (ICC) based in this city, the Venezuelan president responded to the press about the actions of the ICC about what is happening in Palestine where there is an extermination of the population .

He stated in this regard that his government has been clear, as other countries have expressed, that the Court must establish a court to judge crimes and war crimes committed there.

He stressed that double standards are a policy that they are seeing commonly applied worldwide, and stressed that it must stop.

Venezuela raises its voice so that the multilateral bodies of the United Nations system assume their role and discard this double standard policy that does so much damage, he stressed.

In his speech before this body, Gil questioned the destination of ICC funds when we are witnessing an unspeakable conflagration of violence in the Gaza Strip.

One must ask, he asked, if the limited resources of the Criminal Court are really better spent investing in a handful of incidents in a country like Venezuela that is willing and able to do the job itself.

Justice means deciding cases and disputes without fear or favor, which means not capitulating to States that threaten the Court or dictate sanctions against it and its operators, much less favoring those who pay the bills, he said.

Regarding this second hearing, the senior diplomat commented to the press that the ICC Prosecutor's Office did not demonstrate or present any case or evidence that would lead to a criminal investigation against the Bolivarian Republic.

He added that they only heard aerial and general arguments that were constructed through open sources such as the press.

The Bolivarian Foreign Minister recognized that they were two days of successful sessions in which the attack against his country was evident and demonstrated how the Prosecutor's Office ignored all the actions carried out by the Venezuelan Government, the Public Powers and the Public Ministry, because they were presented in Spanish.

That eliminated more than 70 percent of the evidence that pointed to Venezuela as a country that addresses all complaints against rights, he added.

The Foreign Minister affirmed that if the International Criminal Court adopts the decision to continue with this case, it has already been demonstrated that it is a completely political action. (Text and photo: PL)
