Camagüey, Nov 14.- Exemplarity and high level of commitment of its faculty and students in professional training; as well as a strong connection with organizations and companies in the territory characterize the Civil Engineering career of the Faculty of Construction of the University of Camagüey (UC) Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.
This is how his boss, the MSc, highlighted. Mayrele Pérez Fernández, during the presentation of the race to the experts of the National Accreditation Board who during this week verify the results presented for each variable in the self-assessment report.
“The program has 52 professors, of them 20 Doctors and 26 Masters, who have extensive participation in national and international events and have received a total of 11 Awards from the Cuban Academy of Sciences. Furthermore, their research is aimed at solving technical problems and social practice in the territory,” explained Pérez Fernández.
We have participation in 42 research projects with an impact on science and technology, innovation and postgraduate activities in lines of research such as Construction and housing, heritage conservation, Tourism, Defense, Information and Communications Technology, Railways and Roads.
Some of the most important scientific results have been Conceptual, methodological and calculation bases for structural design in fire situations in Cuba, Road Safety Studies for the evaluation of places with high concentration of accidents in the city of Camagüey and Employment of residual materials from the Vietnam Heroico quarry in mix designs for hydraulic mosaics.
As for the students, there is an enrollment of 255 in the Day Course and 121 in the Meeting Course, all with extensive links with companies in the territory, high participation in tasks of social and economic impact related to the content of the specialty, in student scientific groups and in extension projects.
From this specialty arose the idea of ??developing the National Academic Meeting of Civil Engineering Students, which had its first edition in 2018 and then acquired an international character in which the Camagüey university received a total of 4 awards.
