65th anniversary of the Camagüey Front in Najasa

Camagüey, Nov 18.- The municipality of Najasa will host this Saturday the political event and military ceremony on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Camagüey Front, by decision of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz to extend the war against Batista's tyranny to the whole country.

Ernesto Cervantes Machado, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the aforementioned territory, explained that the commemoration will take place in the Plaza Himno Invasor, a site that was remodeled for the occasion, also just days after the 128th anniversary of the birth of that song of fight and combat of the mambi army.

The political leader noted that six and a half decades after the emergence of the Camagüey Front, today honoring the Homeland means promoting agricultural production, especially in a region with ample potential for it, together with strengthening the defense of the nation, the preservation of peace and the conquests of the Revolution.

The remembrance of such an event will be attended by the people of Najas, whose previous generations were decisive collaborators and members of the rebel forces, and also protagonists of important combats in the fights for the nation's independence.

On November 18, 1958, the Camagüey Front command was established, as part of the strategic plan of the general command of the Rebel Army, and was made up of Columns no. 11 Cándido González and no. 13 Ignacio Agramonte, as referenced by the Fidel, Soldado de las Ideas website.
