Hermanos Saíz Association grants scholarship to young Cuban creators


Havana, December 19.- The National Directorate of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) awarded the Kingdom of this World scholarship to eight projects of young creators to support the work of its members through direct financing.

According to Yasel Toledo Garnache, vice president of the AHS, to the Cuban News Agency, the lucky ones reside in the provinces of Guántanamo, Granma, Holguín, Ciego de Ávila, Villa Clara, Matanzas and Havana.

Among the proposals include the personal exhibition Memoria del vertigo, by the Havana poet and visual artist Giselle Lucía Navarro; the fiction short film El electricista, by Gerardo Perdomo from Holguin; the staging Esto es perreo, by the Villa Clara dancer and choreographer Enrique Álvarez; and the puppet play El pícaro burlado, by Guantanamo-born Marcos Alejandro Castillo Thompson.

The short film Los Hijos de Bernarda, by Guantanamo director Adriel Bosch Cascaret, with music by Jeafri Lewis Ortiz Manzanares, will also receive the budget; the Jazz-ta EP, by the Matanzas trio The Heat Transfert; the video art Absence is Silence, by Granma visual artist Katherine de la Paz Herrera; and the animated short The Wall, by Arletty White from Ciego de Avila.

The official ceremony will take place on December 21, at 5:00 pm in the Cuba Pavilion, where other recognitions will be given for the different artistic manifestations.

The kingdom of this world is a scholarship that is open all year round, and is the only one in AHS that only accepts projects from its members, a way to financially support their creative work. (ACN) (Photo: Archive)
