Havana, 18 Jan. - Salvador Valdés Mesa, Vice-President of Cuba, today held a meeting with Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda, an African nation to which he traveled to participate in the XIX Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Third South Summit, convened by the Group of 77 (G77) and China.
The Presidency reported in X that after 11 pm this Thursday (local time), the Cuban representative conveyed to his host warm greetings on behalf of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and president of the Republic.

In a friendly dialogue, Museveni recalled the traces on the African continent of Fidel Castro, historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, and valued his contribution to medical care for the population of his country and the training of health professionals.
“The President of Uganda spoke about the traces that #Fidel's imprint has left on the African continent and recalled how, thanks to his push, #Cuba has not only contributed to medical care for the population of his country, but also to training of health professionals.
The meeting was a sign of the interest of both nations in promoting and strengthening collaborative ties in areas such as health, biotechnology and food.
"The dialogue, frank and relaxed, became a clear example of the interest of both nations in promoting and strengthening ties of collaboration through various means and in different areas such as health, biotechnology and food."
Valdés Mesa thanked Uganda for its support to Cuba in various spaces, and ratified the willingness to strengthen cooperation, as published by the vice president himself in his account on X.
“The dialogue with Ugandan President Yoweri K. Museveni was endearing: we remember #Fidel and his mark on these lands; “We appreciated Uganda's support for #Cuba in various spaces, and we agreed on the willingness to strengthen cooperation ties.”
Likewise, Valdés Mesa congratulated the president of Uganda for the new responsibilities of his country, which will assume in an unprecedented way the presidencies of the G77 and China and the NAM, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, published on the same social network. accompanied the Cuban vice president at the meeting.
