Camagüey, February 7.- Locals who work in various fields and who accumulate invaluable work in the city, converted into a vital site for their work, received recognition on the traditional Night of Santa Cecilia, an artistic proposal from the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey.
Dr. Sarah Estrella López Lazo, second-degree specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, founder of the Intensive Care Unit of the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Teaching Hospital; the literacy teacher and educator Nereida Silvia García Gutiérrez; and the researcher and teacher Emilio Ricardo Fonseca Amador were some of those honored.
The encouragement was also received by the chef and president of the Culinary Association in Camagüey Danoris Hernández Lafita; the graphic designer, writer, scholar and poet Oscar Viñas Ortiz; the researcher linked to environmental issues Rebeca González López del Castillo; the expert on issues linked to the world of aviation Leopoldo Castello Rivero; and the expert in gastronomic services Germán Martín Machado.
Also honored were the active René Armando Casas Bautista, who has served in various organizations and institutions; the multi-medal athlete Vicyohandry Odelín Sanamé; the second degree specialist in Internal Medicine, Dr. René Álvarez Pérez; the specialist in social research and community work María del Carmen Pontón Guillemí; and the group carrying Haitian traditions Bonito Patuá.
The recognition gala, which takes as a pretext the musical nights held with great splendor by the former Benemérita Sociedad Popular de Instrucción y Recreo Santa Cecilia, featured the talent of the instrumentalist Henry Hernández, the Dúo Confluencias, the artistic group Arlequín, the Dúo Voces and the Contemporary Ballet of Camagüey, all under the direction of Osmary Fustiel.
