Havana, February 13.- The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today called for unity of action on the left of the world in the face of attempts at cultural colonization and the media offensive of imperialism.
When speaking at the Second International Meeting of Theoretical Publications, Parties and Movements of the Left, the Cuban President highlighted the relevance of greater articulation of permanent efforts to disseminate the truth of the just causes that engage and mobilize progressive forces.
Before almost a hundred intellectuals, personalities, thinkers and academics from 37 countries, gathered with his Cuban colleagues at the Havana Convention Center, the president proposed creating systematic meeting spaces, and expressed his country's commitment to establishing mechanisms to develop concerted actions.
He pointed out that by controlling the algorithms of digital platforms, world elites seek to make popular causes invisible, and highlighted as examples the Palestinian situation, the blockade against Cuba and the struggle of the Sahrawi people.

He affirmed that a genocide is being committed against Palestine, a policy of extermination that – he emphasized – must move the international conscience.
Cuba, he said, has experienced an especially complex situation in the last four years due to the unprecedented intensification of the United States blockade policy, and the increase in discredit campaigns that seek to ignore the existence of this siege and its implications.
In that sense, he pointed out that social networks are converted into platforms of hate and digital lynchings, which makes the ethical education of the population necessary for their critical use, and the creative use of these by content generators.
The participants in the meeting have been debating since this Monday about the alternatives to confront the media war of the great centers of power against the people, and the need to defend revolutionary theory.
The meeting, which continues the first of these contacts held in Havana in person in February 2023, will conclude tomorrow after two days of exchanges of criteria and proposals focused on the unity of progressive forces.
Inaugurated the day before, the meeting brings together Cuban intellectuals, personalities, thinkers and academics and a hundred of their colleagues from 37 countries in the capital's Convention Palace to debate the challenges of progressive forces and agree on common strategies of action in the face of the resurgence of fascism and the violent capitalist onslaught.
In the opening remarks, the head of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba, Rogelio Polanco, highlighted the relevance of exchanging visions and agreeing on actions, based on committed reflection, in pursuit of the historical struggles of the left.
More reflection and greater action in the face of the overwhelming omnipresence of capital in its attempt to privatize even the dreams and desires of the people and hijack the dispute of meanings in favor of the petty interests of the imperial elites, the party leader demanded.
This call from the Cuba Socialista Magazine, theoretical and political organ of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), is co-sponsored by the PCC Ñico López University, the House of the Americas, the Cuban chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity and the Cuban newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde.
