Book Fair in Camagüey will shine with culture and creativity (+ Photos)


Camagüey, March 8.- From March 13 to 17, the Camagüey version of the International Book Fair dedicated to the writer Sergio Morales Vera and the film critic Juan Antonio García Borrero will begin in the city of tinajones.

Jildo Borrel Cáceres, director of the Provincial Book and Literature Center, reported at a press conference that more than 200 titles will be available, which will be sold in 15 kiosks arranged around areas of the Casino Campestre, the main venue of this important literary event.

In addition, options from Carpa de la Reina, El Lugareño publishing house, Terraza Campesina and the literary group La Rueda Dentada will be available.

Meanwhile, Osmani Brito, chief director of the Commercial department, explained that residents of Camagüey will be able to purchase texts published by Casa de las Américas, Editorial Camino and Ediciones Cubanas Artex.

The theoretical program will take place at the La Comarca Literary Café and will feature panels, book presentations, conferences and discussions.

Among the featured topics is one dedicated to the work of Isabel Monal and Francisco López Sacha, figures to whom tribute is paid in this important cultural event at the national level.

Another panel will be related to the indexing of scientific journals, while a third will focus on knowing the current state of digital books in the Cuban scenario.

One of the recurring attractions of the Book Fair in Camagüey is the Children's Pavilion, which on this occasion will offer around 28 titles for the little ones and during the event artists such as the La Andariega Dance Theater Company, Ecos del Tínima, dancers will perform. of cultural houses, repentista children and the Carsueños Project.

On March 15, in the Agramonte Park of this city, the presentation of the book You Must Believe in Cuba by Magda Resik will take place, as well as the presentation of Senderos Magazine with its special edition dedicated to the 510th anniversary of the founding of the former Villa of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe.

For the closing, on March 17, at the Casino Campestre, a concert by singer-songwriter Tony Ávila will be held as a musical gift for the people of Camagüey in this festival of letters.

Seidel Toledo Pimentel, deputy director of Provincial Culture, expressed the need to keep this event alive, given its importance for the Camagüey territory, cradle of Cuban literature, and the country with a look toward the future and the new trends that move readers. of this digital age.
