Díaz-Canel leads closing of communist youth congress


Havana, April 4.- The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today heads the closing session of the XII Congress of the Union of Young Communists of Cuba (UJC), in the capital's Convention Palace.

For three days, around 400 delegates and a hundred guests at the forum debated how to improve the work of the organization and its support for new generations.

The day before, the modifications to the statutes of the UJC were approved, aimed at energizing the life of the organization, consolidating it as a real vanguard, increasing its reach and influence and perfecting the political-ideological work.

Under the motto Create your happiness, this XII Congress of the UJC celebrates the 62 years of the organization, founded by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on April 4, 1962, exactly one year after the creation of the José Martí Pioneer Organization.

Also attending the closing of the congress are the president of the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament), Esteban Lazo, the prime minister, Manuel Marrero, the secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, and the commanders of the Ramiro Valdés Revolution. and Guillermo García, and the commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado.
