China rejects possible US missile deployment in Asia-Pacific

Beijing, April 8.- China today rejected the possible deployment of medium-range missiles by the United States in the Asia-Pacific "in order to seek unilateral military superiority."

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, and emphasized that Beijing firmly follows the path of peaceful development, while maintaining a defensive policy in matters of national defense.

Furthermore, she noted that China has no interest in competing with any country in terms of military strength.

The spokesperson urged the US side to respect the security concerns of other countries and stop undermining regional peace and stability.

In addition, Mao Ning commented on the upcoming summit between the leaders of the United States, Japan and the Philippines, which will discuss strengthening security cooperation and other issues.

SHe stressed that any cooperation between countries should contribute to regional peace and stability, and expressed China's opposition to the formation of exclusive cliques and bloc confrontations in the region.

The spokesperson also mentioned Beijing's concern over reports about the expansion of the so-called trilateral security partnership (Aukus) between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

She once again emphasized the need to avoid the formation of exclusive cliques and bloc confrontations, urged to learn lessons from history and act with caution in the field of military security.

Tensions between China and the Philippines have increased in recent days due to several incidents in the South Sea of ??the Asian giant, a scenario that Washington took advantage of to strengthen its alliance with Manila.

In fact, the Chinese army carried out a joint naval and air combat patrol in that maritime area the day before to counteract military exercises between the Philippines, the United States, Japan and Australia in the region. (Text and photo: PL)
