VIII National Meeting of Medical Sciences Students ends in Camagüey (+ Photos)


 

Camagüey, April 20.- The closing and plenary session of the VIII National Meeting of Medical Sciences Students in Camagüey, focused on the role of communities in transformation, highlighting them as key scientific, educational and social scenarios for the training of future doctors.

After several days of sessions, the 200 national delegates debated topics related to the functioning of the University Student Federation (FEU), as well as the social projection and integration of the student body in the nation's processes.

The event was attended by Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province, along with professors, researchers, officials and rectors. 

Alberto Hernández Dupuy, president of the FEU at the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey, highlighted the relevance of social projects for the comprehensive development of students and underlined the importance of their participation in the transformation of vulnerable social environments.

Ricardo Rodríguez González, national president of the FEU, highlighted the importance of promoting professional skills that ensure the training of upright doctors fully prepared to face the current challenges in the sector.

Dr.C. Fidelia Mariana Reyes Obediente, National Undergraduate Director of the Ministry of Public Health, highlighted the importance of research oriented to provincial needs, thus contributing to solutions that meet the country's requirements.

In line with the humanist and internationalist spirit of Cuban medicine, the students expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people, declaring: “We Cubans today feel as our own the challenges faced by the Palestinian people.”

Alaá Sadeek, a student at the Latin American School of Medicine, expressed his gratitude to Cuba for his training and unconditional support for Palestine, saying: “In my country there is a saying: whoever teaches me a letter becomes my father. For this reason, I consider myself a son of this land.”

The meeting also served to recognize the work of students and teachers who have excelled in recent years.

In this context, the organizers announced that the IX edition of the National Meeting of Medical Sciences Students will take place in the province of Cienfuegos, chosen for its outstanding performance in the emulation process.
