Camagüey aspires to achieve government projections

Camagüey, April 24.- In the midst of a war economy scenario, the province of Camagüey aspires to materialize the Government's projections to correct distortions and re-boost the economy, with actions that have a greater impact at the municipal level.

Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia, governor of this demarcation, explained in the recent government visit to the territory that in the social order they work with 14,379 vulnerable groups, and initiatives continue, including job fairs, to serve the most of 13 thousand young people disengaged from study and work in the territory.

On the other hand, he highlighted that this year around 34 million pesos will be allocated for construction work that will benefit mothers with three or more children, while the neighborhood transformation program remains with a reach of 53 communities, mainly in the municipality of Camagüey.

When updating the province, he commented that the production and services of exportable funds, made up of 24 products and five modalities, is 90.2 percent fulfilled with an income of 54 million pesos, although, he noted that 10 products do not reach the expected figures, including frozen shrimp, tobacco, charcoal, steel and HG tench.

Regarding investments, he stressed that key projects continue in the Meat Company, the rice program, the Camagüey water treatment plant, the 26 de Julio cement factory and in the Cayo Cruz tourist center, located in the municipality of Esmeralda.

There are still reserves to be used in the banking process, since of the 1,472 legal clients, only 980 are contracted, while the housing program also requires a greater boost, which is only advancing at 12 percent with the construction of 104 properties, still insufficient to meet the demands of the population, he stated.

A growth, he pointed out, is shown by non-state forms of management, with 26,679 self-employed workers, of which around 30 percent are young people.

Currently, he said, the municipalities of Camagüey, Guáimaro, Minas, Nuevitas and Florida stand out among the most representative, and with the approval of 336 MSMEs, the activities with the greatest presence are construction, industrial beverage and food products, gastronomy and accommodation.
