Cuba awards posthumous decoration to Greek activist

Havana, April 26.- The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) today posthumously awarded the Friendship Medal to the Greek activist Babbys Charalampos Vorreas.

At the ICAP headquarters, a tribute was held this Friday to someone who for more than 30 years carried out multiple actions in defense of the Cuban Revolution, and since 2015 joined the international Committee for Peace, Justice and Freedom of the People.

Their daughters Sorina and Tatiana traveled to Cuba to participate in the moving ceremony led by the president of ICAP, Fernando González.

Both young women received the decoration from González, granted by presidential decree at the proposal of the institution.

The daughters of the Greek wrestler excitedly thanked him for the tribute and ended their words with the exclamation: Until victory always!

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the Peace, Justice and Freedom of the People Committee, Graciela Ramírez, evoked the fellow fighter, his revolutionary and supportive work, as well as his exemplary life.

During the event, the tireless activism of Charalampos Vorreas was highlighted against the blockade, for the freedom of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters, known as The Five (Gerardo Hernández, René González, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and Ramón Labañino), and in support to the Palestinians and other just causes.
