Camagüey gets ready for university entrance exams

Camagüey, May 6.- In the province of Camagüey, more than 700 twelfth grade students will take the entrance exams to Higher Education, scheduled from May 7 to 14, in the 20 locations enabled in the territory.

Miguel Zayas Feteiras, head of the pre-university level in the Provincial General Directorate of Education, explained that in this 2023-2024 school year, in which this process will be carried out for the second time, teachers and students have multiplied efforts to ensure intensive preparation and differentiated attention.

He commented that a partial evaluation was carried out in the month of December and another final evaluation in March, with the objective of verifying the different elements of knowledge, and in correspondence with the results derived from these tests, he said, the province is ready and hopes to overcome 59.1 percent achieved in the last entrance exams.

In the days before the start of the ordinary session, he suggested that students apply strategies that allow them to organize their schedules for the study of the three subjects, in addition to clearing up doubts with their teachers and classmates.

Regarding the exams, he stated that students will have four hours to complete them and will only be able to attend with a pencil, eraser and some measuring instrument, specifically for Mathematics.

As in each school period, he stated, students who present some disagreement with their grade may request a review, and those who for some duly justified reason cannot attend the entrance exams, may do so in the last week of the current month.

He also specified that of the 1,951 twelfth grade graduates, 471 students have already been awarded their career directly for their results in national competitions and in the Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz Cup.

Likewise, through the university colleges of pedagogy, journalism and basic sciences, several students obtained a place for continued studies, as did those who opted for the offers of the General Customs of the Republic, the Ministry of the Interior and Gaviota.

The rest of the enrollment, he commented, will not take the entrance tests, however they will have the right to choose a third award within a plan of places exceeding 3,400 courses, among which those of medicine stand out, stomatology, nursing, pedagogy and different engineering.
