Diaz-Canel congratulates Mexico’s Morena party on its anniversary

Havana, July 10 - Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday congratulated Mexico’s Morena party on its 10th anniversary, and expressed the will to continue to strengthen ties between political organizations.

On his X profile, the head of State highlighted Morena’s work in these 10 years, under the leadership of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and focusing on the well-being of the Mexican people.

The National Regeneration Movement (Morena) was created in 2011 as a civil association dedicated to promoting democracy and the defense of Mexico’s sovereignty.

On July 9, 2014, the political organization was registration with the National Electoral Institute as a national party.

Four years later, in 2018, Morena had its first victory in the presidency of the Republic, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The National Regeneration Movement again won the presidency this year under the leadership of the first woman elected to this position in Mexico’s history: Claudia Sheinbaum.

Morena celebrates a decade of work, consolidating itself as the leading political force in Mexico. Currently, the party holds the Presidency of the Republic and the parliamentary majority in both chambers of the Congress of the Union. (Text and photo: Prensa Latina)
