Díaz-Canel Bermúdez condemns US naval blockade of Venezuela

Havana, Dec 17. - The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, vigorously rejected the naval blockade imposed on Venezuela by the US Government. In a message on X, the Cuban leader reaffirmed his firm support for President Nicolás Maduro, the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution, and its People-Military Union.

On the same network, Political Bureau member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, described it as a grave violation of International Law and an escalation of aggression.

The new measure was announced yesterday by the US administration. "Today I ordered a total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela," posted President Donald Trump on his social network.

The Bolivarian Government, in a statement, defined the order as a reckless and serious threat that violates international law, free trade, and freedom of navigation.

It denounced that the White House's objective is "to steal the wealth that belongs to our Homeland," and called on the peoples of the US and the world to reject by all means this outrageous threat that reveals Trump's true intentions.

"Venezuela will never again be a colony of any empire or foreign power and will continue, alongside its people, on the path of building prosperity and the unrestricted defense of our independence and sovereignty," the statement emphasized. (Text and photo: Granma Digital)
