Havana, 29 Nov.- Cubans Vicente Sanabria, with outstanding fifth place, as well as Randol Izquierdo (11) and Yariel de León (18), were included in the top 20 of the Vuelta a Chiriquí 2024, which ended this Thursday in Panama.
The eighth and final stage, run over 60 kilometers on a closed circuit, was another demonstration of combativeness of the Antillean squad, which defended sixth place among the ten finalist teams. They took place 13 on November 21.
On the conclusive date the Ciego de Ávila-born Izquierdo sneager sneager in the top 10 for the fourth day when he passed the finish line of goal to finish eleven general and fifth in his category of under-23s.
Sancti Spiritus’s sportsman Jorge Rojas and Matancero Sanabria followed him in 15th and 16th places, in that order, in the same main platoon of 45 runners, which arrived at a difference of about 40 seconds after the seven points. Among them the winner of the last stage, Christofer Jurado (Panama Culture and Values) with 1:23.00 hours.
In the massive group came his national Bolivar Espinosa, absolute champion of the lap with a total record of 20:09.55 hours in the 832.4 kilometers, followed by also host Michael Caballero, leader of the sub-23.
Behind came the Havanans José Domínguez and Ricardo Cardoso in the 24th and 27th places, the other sub-23s of Cuba, who were in the seventh and eleven steps in that category.
After the pointer trio of the Antilleans in the individual general, Dominguez finished in position 26, Rojas (40), Joselín Piedra (44) and Cardoso (53).
In points ranking, for those who added the most in intermediate and final goals, three of the Island ended with double digits among the 33 winners: Izquierdo 15 (place 14), Dominguez 14 (15) and Sanabria 11. They finished spin 59 out of 78 who took the game.
Both in Chiriquí and in the Tour to Panama last month, the Cuban teams "mix of young people and active veteran figures who made up the national team" have left a pleasant impression for the geography of the isthmus, which benefits first and foremost those who prepare to face the commitments of the next Olympic cycle.
