Camagüey, Jan 13.- The Mechanical Plant generating set plant, in this city, will host this January 14th the central event of the province of Camagüey for the Electrical Worker's Day, in recognition of its comprehensive productive and union results, among them the contributions to generation in the midst of the energy contingency.
Of its counterparts in the country, the Camagüey Base Business Unit (UEB) of the Fuel Oil Generating Set Maintenance Company (EMGEF) was the one that contributed the most energy to the electrical system at the end of 2024, according to Lyan Alonso Alfonso, general secretary of the Energy and Mines Union in the territory.
During the celebration for the date, the outstanding workers of the aforementioned UEB, the two best power plants, will be recognized, and they will also entertain the UEBs of the Electrical Industry Construction Company, the Information and Automatic Technology Company, that of Generating Sets and Electrical Services and the Provincial Electric Company.
Next Monday, the 13th, an event will be held at the Basic Electrical Organization (OBE) of the municipality of Nuevitas, which won first place in the special competition for January 14, explained Alonso Alfonso.
Among the municipal OBEs, belonging to the Electric Company, that of Guáimaro occupied second place, while that of Camagüey won third place, he added.
The day for the Electrical Worker's Day began in the district on December 20 and extends until the 14th of the current month, and has been characterized by several activities, such as the acts of recognition of the Ignacio Agramonte Electrical Contingent that worked in the recovery of provinces of the east and west after the passage of hurricanes Oscar and Rafael.
Likewise, there have been blood donations, mini-fairs in some of the sector's centers, job changes, gift exchanges, and each union center in the territory conceived its own activities.
