Havana, Jan 22.- Cuba carries out the Bastion 2024 Strategic Exercise from today until next Friday, as part of the country's preparation for defense.
This activity aims to train the management and command bodies of the different structures in charge of the national and territorial guard in the organization of work.
According to the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Minfar), this activity seeks to raise the country's readiness for the defense and preparation of the troops and the population, in order to confront the different actions of the enemy.
In a note published in the Granma newspaper, the ministry recalled that the Strategic Exercise was planned for November of last year, however, due to the damage caused by earthquakes and hurricanes Oscar and Rafael, it was decided to postpone it to 2025.
During the Bastion and National Defense Day (January 25), maneuvers and tactical exercises of different types will be carried out, with the participation of units of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and other components of the territorial defensive system.
For this reason, Minfar warns, there will be movements of troops and war material, aviation flights, and explosions may be felt throughout the country.
These exercises represent the maximum expression of military preparation at a strategic level, and are an essential component of the Defense Personnel Preparation System.
As a previous activity, the University Student Bastion was held the day before in all higher education institutions in the country, where students carry out practical activities as part of their national security and defense curricular program. (PL) (Photo: ACN)
