Camaguey, Jan 31.- At the regular session, for the month of January, the Provincial Council pointed out the Government Programme to correct distortions and boost the economy, with its objectives, actions, indicators, targets, timelines, participants and leaders.
During the meeting, strategic objectives number one, seven and nine, aimed at progressing in the implementation of the Macroeconomic Stabilization Program were analyzed; Consolidate and develop social policies, guaranteeing protection for people, families, homes and communities in vulnerable situations, and implementing the Government Program for the Recovery of the National Electroenergy System (SEN), respectively.
In assessing target number one, Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia, governor of the province, stressed the need for greater cohesion between the national, state and local inspection bodies to exercise strict control, since in the first 24 days of the year alone more than 3,000 fines have more than 3,000 fines been imposed, 171 forced sales and have closed 11 establishments for violations, to cite just a few examples in which more effective actions are still required.
Related to the implementation of objective number seven, the behavior of the Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI) was evaluated in 2024, a period that ended with an infant mortality rate of 7.54 per thousand live births, with 34 deaths against 65 in 2023, an aspect in which figures showed above the provincial average the municipalities of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Jimaguayú, Santa Cruz del Sur, Minas, Sibanicú, Sierra de Cubitas and Camagáey, while Nuevitas and Najasa did not provide deaths.
In this regard, the members of the Provincial Council agreed that primary health care is essential to improve the performance of the PAMI, based on the improvement of the work of the family doctor and nurse, as a programme of the Revolution designed to protect the health of the people.
The analysis of objective number nine also focused the agenda of the meeting, in particular the advances in the construction of five photovoltaic generation parks in Vertientes, Sierra de Cubitas, Camaguey and Guáimaro, with which it is intended to incorporate about 70 megawatts to the SEN at the end of 2025, in addition to the assembly of radiators kit, battery modules, generators, as well as cyclical maintenance and capitals, among other actions.
At the conclusion of the Provincial Council, Sutil Sarabia emphasized the preparations for the accountability of the Provincial Government of People to the National Assembly of People's Power next July, which requires a more successful government and leadership exercise in favor of the well-being of Camagüey’s people.
