Havana, Feb 1st. - Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, reaffirmed this Friday Cuba's commitment to the Eurasian Economic Union (EASO) during the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. Virtually participating, Marrero Cruz highlighted strengths and opportunities in sectors such as the pharmaceutical, biotechnology industry, food production and industry in general.
The Prime Minister thanked the support and solidarity of the members of the OAS and its observer States, especially during the last period, which has been complex for Cuba. He also recognized Armenia’s work at the head of the organization in 2024 and congratulated Iran on its new observer status as an observer State.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening economic, trade, financial and cooperation relations between the EUEA member countries. Despite the challenges, Cuba will continue its process of effective integration into the Eurasian Union, with a focus on a more dynamic and multisectoral exchange.
The Prime Minister mentioned Cuba's exclusion from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism by the U.S. government, although he regretted that this decision was reversed shortly thereafter. Despite the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States, Cuba remains committed to development and international cooperation.
In short, Marrero Cruz reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to UEEA and expressed its gratitude for the support received, stressing the importance of cooperation and strengthening economic and trade links for mutual benefit.
"On behalf of our people and government, I thank all the full members of the Eurasian Union and its observer states for the signs of support and solidarity with Cuba, especially during the last period that has been particularly complex," the president said. (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
