Havana, January 3 – The early hours of January 3, 2026, have been brutal for the people of Venezuela. The government of the United States militarily attacked that nation at several points across its geography, thereby shattering the peace of a free, independent, and sovereign nation.
The Cuban Workers' Union and the national trade unions condemn this vile aggression and reaffirm the support of the workers for the Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez. Furthermore, we call upon all trade unions and other workers' organizations in America and the world to repudiate this new chapter of violation of sovereignty and independence, shamelessly practiced by the U.S. government.
The history of Venezuela has always been one of struggle and combat. In these hours, that indomitable spirit is being tested once again, to prevent its material resources, especially oil, from falling into the hands of the imperialist power that disregards the United Nations Charter.
Many Cuban workers have fulfilled internationalist missions in Venezuela and feel the attacks perpetrated on the third day of 2026 as their own. We express our solidarity with that noble people and will not cease in denouncing this new military and interventionist escalation by the United States government to the international community.
