France, Feb 1st.-The premiere of the Cuban tripists Liadagmis Povea and Leyanis Pérez responded to what was expected by their followers, after signing the best records at the Miramas Roof Athletics rally in 2025, in France.
With a second attempt of 14.57 meters Povea led the order and improved by 10 centimeters the record of the competition set by Leyanis in the edition held three years ago.
The Pinar del Río-born who obtained fourth place at the 2024 Paris Olympics, had started the competition with a 14.50 metre jump. On his third try he stretched to 14.45, scored a pair of fouls on his next forays and declined to take part in the sixth round of jumps.
That performance came to leave Leyanis in the second step, after a performance that also covered expectations, as it was his debut in the so-called winter season.
Her best mark was achieved with a third jump of 14.52 meters. The turnaround and silver medallist in the past universal indoor contest came up with his usual stability and barely committed a foul on his six occasions. In the sequence he always exceeded the 14-metre barrier, with marks of 14.23-14.50-14.12-14-14-14.
In the fair, with a silver category in the World Athletics Indoor Tour 2025, 13 triplists participated, including the Spanish Ana Peleteiro, who reappeared after her sixth Olympic place in the French capital and finished in eighth place (13.58 meters).
She accompanied the Cubans on the Senni Salminen podium in Finland after being five centimeters from 14 meters.
The presence of exponents of the island in the contest was completed by the Tunisian svellist Reynaldo Espinosa, competing for the first time on a roofed track. His 6.74-second chrono in the 60-metre test left him third in her elimination series.
The semifinalist in the hectometer under the five hoops a few months ago failed to improve on her next presentation and finished fourth in the final B, by stopping the clocks in 6.83 seconds, record that must improve as her adaptation to the new scenarios progresses
This Saturday will again see the Cuban prominence on Gallic soil, with the performances of Alejandro Parada and Hayla González at the Tres Saltos de Amiens rally, convened for specialists in the modalities of height, triple and length.
The latter will be joined by Parada and Hayla, and according to the organizers they start among the favorites to the awards. With triumph options, the Serbian Milica Gardasevic also appears, sixth in the indoor world of 2024 and with a mark of 6.91 meters, along with Namibian Lionel Coetzee, African runner-up and with an 8.27 as the highest reference.
Parada displays personal record of 8.15 and Hayla of 6.85 meters, both of which were obtained in outdoor tests. (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
