Camagüey, Feb. 7th - Coinciding with the 29th anniversary of the State Forestry Service, to be celebrated this day in the province of Camagüey, they carried out their annual balance with the objective of evaluating the behavior of the indicators for 2024.
The meeting was attended by Jackeline Carmenates Basulto, sub-delegate of agriculture in the province, María Magdalena Artuñedo, head of the department of development and environment, Nereida Junco Garzón, director of the environmental center and representative of CITMA, together with directors of organizations.
Nelson Figueroa Morel, director of the state forestry service in Camaguey, in his report, pointed out aspects related to the application of science and technology, training and preparation through workshops in order to achieve sustainable management of existing forest resources, as well as to increase efficiency in management and control activities, priority aspects in their daily work.
He also noted among the strengths, the work of the specialists who contribute to the incorporation of 4,127 hectares to the forest heritage, 200 more than the previous year.
Among the work projections for the current year is the increase in research projects, continue working to reduce illegalities and consolidate the integration of entities and organizations, as well as close ties with the educational sector for the training of new professionals.
On the occasion, the municipalities of Sierra de Cubita, Jimaguayú and Najasa were recognized as outstanding in the year to be evaluated.
The National Association of Forestry Agricultural Technicians awarded the technical merit to Luis Magdiel Hernández Lastre and Alexis Fernández Luis, both with relevant protagonism in forestry work.
The concluding remarks were made by Carmenates Basulto who urged a greater effort in the dissemination of the work done and to make 2025 a period of superior results and where they play a key role in agriculture. (Text and Photos: Zenia Donet García)
