Havana, Feb 8th. - Cuba will host the World Youth Summit of the International Communications Union (ITU) 2025 between 11 and 13 March to the next at the Meliá Internacional Varadero Hotel, in the renowned spa in the province of Matanzas.
GYS-25, as the organizers call it, will be a stage for participants from all over the world to exchange on topics such as digital empowerment of young people, the reduction of the digital skills gap, artificial intelligence, sustainability and challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies, among other current issues.
Organized by this Summit by the ITU and the Ministry of Communications (Mincom) of the Caribbean nation, it will also have an exhibition space in which participants will be able to explore innovative projects and discover opportunities to achieve impacts.
Cecilia Valdés Milián, director of institutional communication at Mincom, told the Cuban News Agency, in exclusive statements, that Cuba has much to show in terms of the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs), with young experts who graduated from higher education, who will present new projects.
She praised the work being done by the Young Computer Club, with their community programs, and the strength of having two own pay gateways, experiences they will present at the World Summit.
Innovative solutions will be shared in Gys-25 to improve infrastructure, leverage transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to expand connectivity and digital ecosystems, expand access to digital literacy programmes and create inclusive, secure and sustainable digital environments, as recorded in the event's agenda.
Valdés Milián predicted successes to the meeting, which will also offer the opportunity to numerous participants to meet Cuba for the first time, and Varadero, considered one of the best spas in the world for its almost 20 kilometers of beach with crystal clear waters and fine sand.
