Israel committed 270 rapes in Gaza after start of truce

Ramallah, Feb 13.- The Israeli Armed Forces have committed 270 violations in the Gaza Strip since the start of the truce between that country and Hamas on January 19, a Palestinian official source denounced today.

The head of the Government Press Office in the coastal enclave, Salama Maarouf, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of not respecting the ceasefire.

He also stated that Israel systematically violated the agreed humanitarian protocol, in response to which he called on mediators to pressure Netanyahu to force him to comply with the terms of the pact.

The director general of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir al-Barash, reported this week that 92 people died and another 822 were injured by Israeli attacks since the start of the truce.

Two other citizens lost their lives due to the explosion of bombs buried in the rubble and 24 as a result of injuries received during the aggression, he detailed.

The official said that since the beginning of the ceasefire, rescue teams have recovered 641 bodies, including 197 that have not yet been identified.

The authorities of the territory estimated more than 48 thousand deaths since the beginning of the conflict, in October 2023, while the number of injured exceeds 111 thousand.

The six-week truce began on January 19. Since then, a total of 16 Israelis and five Thais have been released by the militias, in exchange for 583 Palestinians, many of whom were serving life sentences. (Text and photo: PL)
